Why am I offended?

I hope everyone had a blessed and wonderful Christmas. I know we did. We had a feast with the family, drank hot coco, we sang Christmas songs, we watched old Christmas movies. Its been so much fun I almost hate to see it go.
As I've mentioned in previous post I love closed captioning. I was a late bloomer on this one, but wow, it's so nice to hear (or should I say understand) a movie. One thing I have noticed though is I hate it when people turn off the closed captioning. We have a much beloved room mate who feels the need to turn off the captioning when I'm not watching T.V., now I know what your thinking, I'm not watching it so what does it matter. Well that's my question. Why do I get offended? I shouldn't be insulted by this, but I am. Why? It seems irrational.

Umm, I had my brother here for xmas and he's hearing. One night, i went to bed and got up in the morning as usual, found my tv had no caps on i was baffled and really thought that TV's broken! I searched to find out why it hasn't got it on. For bit, i thought about it, Hang on, my brother had been watching football that night so he might have turned it off, and I was right. Well, it's my house and how dare he to turn it off but i just shrug it off seeing as I wasn't watching the TV also he's only here for few days. But I do understand how you feel as i had house mate too who also turns them off when i am not there. Some people just don't like reading at the same time as watching TV, We are the wise ones as we can do both!! LOL.

What a beautiful Christmas photo!

If it's your house and there's only one tv, then that would be annoying. Maybe you could ask the roommate sweetly to switch captions back on when finished watching. Ask your roommate how he/she would feel if the tv was left on mute and he/she had to turn the sound back on each time to watch.

I never have that problem, because no one can ever figure out how to turn off the captions. LOL.
